Swimming is a simple approach to keep yourself fit and fine. It is considered as a low-impact activity that provide flexibility to your body. So, if you want to learn swimming, then you should be familiar with its 4 major styles.

These 4 major styles of swimming are:-

1. Butterfly


It is one of the most difficult stroke that requires a good swimming technique. In this, the arms, the head, shoulders and part of the chest have to be lifted out of the water. Beginner’s face some difficulty in this stoke because it requires a proper synchronization in both over-water recovery and breathing.

2. Backstroke


This stoke permits you to breath effectively that is not possible in other strokes.  This is because your face is above the water surface during this stroke. Moreover, The arms execute alternating movements so that you can easily move in a forward direction.

3. Frontstyle

Frontstyle is the fastest stroke among remaining three strokes. It popularly known as the American crawl and many firms offers professional coaching of frontstyle swimming in America. In this, the face-down swimming position allows, for a good range of arm movement in the water just like backstroke.

4. Breaststroke

The most slower and popular recreational style is Breaststroke. In this, you lean on your chest, whereas the arms break the surface of the water slightly. During this stroke, legs always remain in water and the head position changes after every half of the stroke.
